Villa Tini was built around 1899 by opera singer Ernestine „Tini" Schumann-Heink — financed by the first fee from her guest tour through America.
That's also where the name "Villa Tini" comes from. In recent years, we've even had the pleasure of welcoming one of the diva's granddaughters, visiting from America, at the "Weinbergblick" apartment.
1861
Born in Lieben, near Prague.
1893
Marries Paul Schumann; the marriage produces eight children.
c. 1899
The villa is built in Radebeul, financed by her America tour.
after 1904
After her husband's death, she marries her younger manager and moves to America.
1929
The villa is signed over to her eldest daughter, living in Leipzig. She plants an ivy — a cutting from Richard Wagner's grave. Ivy still climbs across the property today.
1936
The diva dies in Hollywood.
